The Color of Confidence
Come the 14th of February, we all tend to reach for something red or something pink, the colors of love, romance, and seduction. But it can feel a bit on the nose; like wearing a beret in Paris (professional tip: don’t do it). There are many colors that hint at romance, perfect for all the women who prefer understated femininity and sensuality.
I know a lot of you don’t like to wear pink and find red overbearing, so I have good news for you: wearing colors like oyster, blush taupe and smoky cocoa exude more confidence. It’s less Sex and the City and more Scandal - luxe fabrics, muted colors, and curated accessorizing.
As you choose your outfit for your Valentine’s plans - may that be a romantic dinner at home, going to a nice restaurant (even though I highly advise against those overpriced menus, but that’s another article) or going on a day trip - focus on choosing an outfit that makes you feel confident. Sexiness is all about confidence. When you feel confident, you’re free to be your version of sexy. And that’s where real style begins.
These three colors are luxe, understated and sensual, but most of all they attract, they’re magnetic.
These three tones soften your image while sharpening your presence. I’ve carefully selected a few items for each that will prove to be timeless staples in your wardrobe.
1. Oyster: The Modern Love Neutral
Oyster color isn’t pearl, but it does have a hint of it, after all they do carry pearls. Oyster tones are soft, luminous, not as stark as white, not as warm as cream. It has an inner glow, even when it’s not silk or velvet. It’s white’s chic older sister that lives in Europe.
While oyster mostly shines in silky blouses and satiny camis, oyster tones can even make knits shine. The color is perfect for highlighting gold and silver jewelry, so style with a pendant necklace and drop earrings.
The overall effect is one effortless, magnetic, and above all it creates an allure of intimacy.

2. Blush Taupe: The Subtle Seduction Shade
Don’t worry, it’s not pink. Blush taupe is a muted rose with grounding beige undertones. It feels grounded but not earthy, timeless but not old.
While it stays on theme, it doesn’t look like you’re wearing a costume or running for President of Valentine town. You can wear it as a knit top, tailored trousers or a lightweight coat. It photographs beautifully and flatters a wide range of skin tones.

3. Smoky Cocoa: The Quietly Sexy Neutral
Smoky cocoa is a muted, chocolate-meets-mauve tone that whispers seductively. More dimensional than brown, softer than burgundy but with just as much personality.
It looks best in satin, velvet, and soft knits, where its brightness is contrasted by its deepness. It’s an ideal alternative to black for winter as it adds depth without feeling somber. While you can wear it with blush taupe or oyster, it’s also ideal for a monochrome look.

These colors perfectly complement each other - a satin oyster top with a pair of blush taupe trousers, a long silky smoky cocoa skirt with a knit blush taupe top, or an oyster colored dress and a smoky cocoa overcoat.
When your clothes feel intentional, when the colors work with you instead of shouting over you, confidence becomes effortless. And effortless is always more compelling than obvious.
Choose pieces that feel magnetic to you. And if all else fails, good posture and a great coat will take you very far.
Bisous my friend!
