Key Fall Color Combos

Fall is the season where color really comes alive, and I am so ready for it. Unlike the fresh pastels of spring or the crisp whites of summer, autumn shades are about depth, warmth, and quiet sophistication. This year, I’m leaning into pairings that feel both classic and a little unexpected — the kind of combinations that make a simple outfit look instantly styled.

Here are four of my favorite color combos to try this fall:

1. Navy + Burgundy

A timeless pairing that feels refined but never boring. Navy brings a structured, almost preppy base, while burgundy adds a rich, wine-toned depth. Try a navy blazer with a burgundy scarf, or simply swap black trousers for navy and add a burgundy bag. It’s polished without being predictable.

2. Grey + Mustard

Cool and warm together - this is the power couple of fall. Grey softens the brightness of mustard, while mustard brings a playful spark to an otherwise neutral look. Picture a grey knit with mustard trousers, or a soft wool coat paired with a mustard crossbody bag. Chic, modern, and mood-lifting. Would you try it?

3. Olive + Cream

Earthy and grounding, olive green has become a quiet hero for fall wardrobes. Paired with cream, it feels elevated and fresh. Think olive wide-leg trousers with a cream knit, or an olive utility jacket over a cream silk blouse. It’s the perfect mix of casual ease and sophistication.

4. Black + Camel

We often hear that Black and brown don’t go together…I highly disagree and specifically when you think about black and camels (which are in the family of browns). It is sharp, city-ready, and endlessly versatile. Black brings structure while camel adds warmth - together they strike the perfect balance. A camel coat thrown over an all-black outfit is the easiest way to channel Parisian chic in October. Add a camel boot or bag to a black dress, and you have instant polish.

The beauty of fall color combos is that you don’t need to reinvent your wardrobe — you just need to mix pieces you already own in fresh ways. Add one or two accents (a scarf, bag, or jacket) and suddenly your staples feel completely new.
