Spring Shoes for You

Whether it’s combat boots, knee high boots, or ankle boots, I think we’re all ready to throw some different shoes into the rotation. Not only do we get more shoe styles but they also come in different colors, less black and brown and more tan and white shoes. It’s a great time to look in the back of your closet and also do a little shopping. If there is one thing I learned from watching six seasons of Sex and the City is that you can never have too many shoes…unless they don’t fit in your apartment.

Spring is a time we go outside, we visit the farmer’s market, we go to the park, we have fuller days of activities. So we need shoes that can support us all day long, and that doesn’t mean compromising on style, but just prioritizing comfort.

When it comes to shoes, I'm a big believer in trying it in stores: walk around, flex your feet, go up some stairs if there are any. Make sure nothing is bothering you. When we don't wear socks with shoes, we can run into a few problems throughout the day: rubbing, sweating, swelling. My tip is to get a shoe with just a bit of give. But not too much, you don’t want to be stepping out of your shoe as you walk.

With Spring we have the classics, but every once in a while they come with a twist, so here are the Spring 2024 shoe trends for you to try.

Mules

Mules have been making a comeback in recent years, and how couldn’t they? They are versatile, comfortable and very easy to slip on if you’re rushing out of the house. My favorite thing about them is that you can easily wear them to spend time with friends but they can also be appropriate for work. So as we return to happy hour culture - or maybe you didn’t pause - mules can become your Spring go-to office shoes.

Wedges

As I mentioned, one of my favorite runway moments was the Chloe front row, where all the A-listers were seen wearing the same wedges side by side. It made me immediately excited for warm weather and also to pull out my wedges. This year, open open-toed shoes and wooden-like detailed wedges are going to be everywhere - adding an elegant touch to the style.

Fishnet Flats

Alaïa has been non-stop with internet-breaking trends and one of my favorites is the fishnet flats. Flats can get ummm *sweaty* after a full day without any socks, and you may get to the end of the day with swollen feet. But fishnet flats are like the Silicon Valley solution to the issue. Not only are they innovative and “user-friendly” but they are also so stylish and will instantly elevate any look.

Espadrilles

Espadrilles, who were created from where I am from, the Bask Region in the South West of France, are the warm weather alternative to the loafer. Even with heels, they are incredibly comfortable. They definitely have more of a boho chic look to them, so they may not be as flexible for everyone’s style, but they could be your go-to shoe this Spring and Summer.

Kitten Heels

Kitten heels have been “in” all winter long, but now you get to wear them without socks or tights. Of course kitten heels came here to stay, most women don’t lead lives where they can be wearing stilettos all the time. So the baby heel is no fad, but the comfortable heel option that gives you the elevated look you want without losing the comfort. It’s the perfect fancy shoe for Spring, whether you’re going to a dinner, have an important meeting, or just because you want to. Investing in some cute kitten heels can make you instantly feel more glamorous.

Mules, espadrilles, kitten heels, fishnet flats…I think our shopping carts are now full! And you don’t necessarily have to put your boots away, it isn’t summer just yet. But you should invest in quality shoes, they are more comfortable and will last you longer. And with a fully booked Spring calendar, those are two things you most definitely need!

Bisous my friend!
