Swimsuit Season is Here!

Summer makes me think of lying by the pool, swimming in the sea, tanning on a boat...and what do all those things have in common? We’re ~usually~ wearing swimsuits, unless you’re on some beaches in Europe 😝. The reality of finding a swimsuit we love can be very frustrating and damaging to our self-confidence. But it doesn’t have to be when you know what you’re looking for.

We’re often too hard on ourselves. Beating ourselves up for not going to the gym during the winter or eating a box of cookies while watching White Lotus. We feel bad about our bodies and guilty for our choices. The thing is, we all have imperfections, every woman does, no matter how perfect they may look on social media. And that’s fine. I have things I would want to change about myself, but I like my body and I am grateful for everything it lets me do.

While this is a guide to help you find the swimsuit style that most flatters your assets, it’s always good to touch on self-love. You can never get enough of it, so let this be your reminder that your body is beautiful. 🖤

You may have a preference for a style that isn’t listed under your body type, and that’s okay. This is supposed to help you pick out swimsuits to try on at a store that I know will look good on your body. But if there are other styles you like too, that’s great! You can never have too many swimsuits.

If you have an inverted triangle shape

That means you have broader shoulders and narrower hips. Our goal here is to create curves in your bottom half by adding volume, so here are a few things to keep in mind.

  • Look for bottoms with embellishments or ruffles

  • Avoid strapless tops

  • Steer clear from sporty swimsuit styles

If you have an hourglass shape

This body type is defined by natural curves with a full chest and bottom. Our goal is to highlight those curves and provide coverage where you want it.

  • Choose tops with underwires, either in the balconette or halter style to provide support for your chest

  • Avoid big bold prints as they will make your body look disproportionate

  • When thinking about your bottoms avoid any details on your hips that add volume

If you have a triangle shape

Your bottom is wider than your chest. Our goal is to balance your proportions by adding volume to your chest.

  • Opt for a bottom with a fuller coverage cut

  • Choose a low neckline top with embellishments, details and/or prints

  • Avoid big prints or flashy colors for your bottom

If you have a rectangle shape

You have fewer curves and a more straight figure. Our goal will be to enhance your curves.

  • Play with ruffles and bold prints on both your top and bottom to add volume

  • Opt for more feminine-style swimsuits and avoid sportier looks

  • Cutouts and monokinis can give the illusion of more curves

  • If comfortable with that, choose less coverage, the smaller the swimsuit bottom, the fuller your derriere will look

If you have an oval shape

That means you have more weight in the midsection. Our goal is to define your waist and balance your silhouette

  • Shirring swimsuits will help define your figure

  • High-waisted bottoms are an option to cinch at the waist

  • Likewise, surplice-wrap swimsuits will define your waist thanks to the crossover fabric
