Jet Set, Not Stressed: My No-Fuss Packing Rules for Stylish Travel

May is finally here, the flights are booked, and the wanderlust is real! I’m planning on traveling quite a bit this summer, and I couldn’t be more excited.

Whether you're off for a sunny escape or a city adventure, packing smart makes all the difference. These are my go-to rules I swear by—because traveling light and looking chic is absolutely possible.

Let’s get one thing out of the way: I don’t do packing cubes. I roll my clothes. They take up less space and let me squeeze in so much more. A two-week New York and Mexico trip in a carry-on? Yes, my friend. I just roll very hard… and plan even harder.

In that spirit, before anything goes into the suitcase, everything gets laid out on the bed. Visual clarity is key. You’ll instantly see if you’re overpacking—or if something sticks out like, “I’ll only wear this once.” That’s your cue: remove it.

Accessories are your secret weapon.

A silk scarf, bolder jewelry, and a great pair of sunglasses? Suddenly you’ve got five more outfits without adding bulk. It’s styling magic. From shopping to a nice dinner—same outfit, different vibe!

Pack by outfit. Yes, homework is involved. Think ahead about where you’re going, what you’ll be doing, and how you want to show up. No “just in case” chaos.

A shawl is non-negotiable. It’s a blanket, a layering piece, a chic cape. It does it all.

Never travel without one. Here are a few I like for you.

And your travel day outfit? It’s an actual outfit—not a throwaway.

Ideally, something comfy but polished. (Though if you’re heading straight to a workout, fine—wear the cute matching set. I’ll try not to judge. 😛)

I like the idea of a trench over a more sporty look!

Lastly, always leave a little room in your bag. That unique piece you didn’t know you’d find? It deserves a spot in your suitcase—and your wardrobe.

Traveling should feel freeing—not like you’re dragging your entire closet behind you. Stick to these simple rules, and you’ll have outfits you love, space to breathe (and shop!), and the kind of ease that makes any trip feel elevated.

Bon voyage, my friend!
