Office Footwear & Bags

Let’s be honest: office life is basically a marathon disguised as an eight-hour day. And when you add up a whole week, it can take quite the toll on our bodies. Feet and shoulders especially. Between dodging questionable coffee, surviving meetings that should have been emails, and sprinting for that last train, your shoes and bag are doing heavy lifting. That’s why picking the right pair (or pairs) and the perfect work bag isn’t just a style choice, it’s survival strategy, and when you find a bag you love it might be just the reason you can’t wait to head into the office, for a week at least.

Think of them as your armor: shoes that let you walk into a presentation without wincing, and a bag that carries everything from your laptop to that emergency snack stash (because yes, deadlines do require a protein boost). Comfort and style aren’t mutually exclusive, they’re how you will look comfortable and polished.

I often give talks to business women in different industries on how to dress for work, not for the job they have, but the job they want. So here is a crash course in footwear and bags. If you’re looking for more styling advice take a look at my course!

Footwear

Office footwear must be comfortable and stylish, as the kids say, period. When you’re running from meeting to meeting you should rely on supportive shoes that also make a statement from the moment you walk in.

How do you choose the perfect work shoes? Here’s what we need to consider:

Comfort & Support: Look for shoes with padded insoles, arch support, and stability to ensure all-day wearability. I suggest buying an insole that you can slide into any shoe.

Heel Height & Functionality: A 2 to 3-inch heel is ideal for maintaining a polished look without sacrificing comfort. If you prefer flats, opt for structured designs with proper support, flats need arch support even more!

Material & Quality: Invest in real leather or high-quality suede for durability, breathability, and a refined look. This is about getting your return on your money and comfort.

Versatility: Choose neutral colors like black, nude, or navy to match most outfits, and styles that can transition from day to evening effortlessly.

Bags

I’m sure you already have a work bag or even two, but maybe you’re looking for something new or more practical. I’ve made a selection of bags that are comfortable, durable, and made for the working woman. When you buy any work bag take the following into consideration.

Structure: A structured bag conveys authority and professionalism in more traditional industries such as law and finance. If you work in a more relaxed environment, experiment with a softer shape that is very in fashion.

Material: Opt for high-quality leather, durable nylon, or sustainable alternatives that age well.

Functionality: Multiple compartments, laptop space, and a balanced weight distribution are essential for everyday use. My recommendation is to purchase a bag organizer, so you can quickly shift all of your things from one work bag to the other based on your outfit.

At the end of the day, the right shoes and bag aren’t just accessories, they’re co-workers you actually like and need. Choose wisely, invest in quality, and you’ll breeze through the 9-to-5 grind with style, comfort, and maybe even a little excitement for the office. After all, your outfit might get you noticed, but your footwear and bag will get you through.

Bisous my friend!
