Fall Trends: What I’m Saying Yes To and What I’m Skipping
Every season brings a new list of trends we are apparently supposed to embrace immediately. Some I actually love. Others, I think, need a little more caution.
NO...or at Least Proceed Carefully
Bohemian Romance
If bohemian is already part of your personal style, absolutely lean into it. But if it is not, all the flowing fabrics, lace, fringe and romantic layers can very quickly start to feel like a costume. A trend should still feel like you, not like you are playing a character for the season.

Sporty Pieces
I like the idea of sporty pieces when they are intentionally paired with something more polished. A track jacket with tailored trousers, for example. But if you are simply adding more casual pieces to an already very casual wardrobe... I think we have had enough athleisure for a while. The contrast is what makes this trend interesting.

Big Romantic Details
Bows, ruffles, dramatic florals... same rule as the bohemian trend. If femininity and romantic details are naturally part of your style, go for it. If not, forcing them into your wardrobe because they are trending will probably just make you feel a little strange in your own clothes.

Croc-Embossed Leather
In accessories or clothing, yes. It adds texture and makes even a simple outfit feel more elevated and interesting. A croc-effect bag, belt, shoe or jacket can be a statement without feeling loud.

Jacquard & Rich Decorative Fabrics
I love the return of fabrics with a little more depth. Jacquard, brocade and other textured materials can make an outfit feel much more dimensional without requiring a complicated silhouette or a million accessories.

The Bomber Jacket
Apparently the bomber is the jacket for fall, and I am very much on board. It works beautifully with jeans, but I especially like it paired with something a little more refined: trousers, a skirt, a dress. Again, it is the contrast that makes it good.

At the end of the day, trends are supposed to be fun, not instructions. Take the ones that feel like you, ignore the rest, and please do not suddenly become a bohemian romantic just because Vogue told you to!
